My name is Norvil William Sims, most people call me William.

I am retired. After I retired I went to Korea and China as an English Conversation Teacher. I was in Korea for 11 months and China for 14 months. In Korea I worked with kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, university and adult students. Some of the students were self-motivated to speak English and some were not. This is normal in every culture outside of an English speaking country.

In China I was associated with mostly middle school, high school, university and adult students. The younger students were motivated but a lot of the adult students were not as interested. I learned that the Chinese could read and write English but had a difficult time speaking English. I always encouraged students that learning to speak a different language was a big benefit for future communication.

I met my Chinese wife on the Internet. She could not speak, read, and write any English. My wife wants to be a US citizen so she is studying citizenship related English. Recently she passed an oral driver’s license test using a Chinese translator from a local university. She is an older female and has set ideas about learning English.

Before I retired I worked for the government from 1988 to 2000 as Program Manager, Buyer, Contract Administrator, Procurement Tech, Procurement Analyst, Program Assistant, Patient Services Assistant, Contract Monitor, Equal Opportunity Specialist, Accounting Tech, and Legal Tech.
